What's going on?
Ideally, for a country with no more aspirations of claiming top spot in the qualifying group, Ireland would be hoping for Germany to go and be Germany now and cut themselves off from the rest of the group.
And they wasted no time in doing that when two early strikes put the brakes on Poland's charge.
