AIB Club Camogie round up: Oulart and Piltown celebrate All-Ireland success

Croke Park was no place for the faint of heart today

Oulart the Ballagh are back at the top table of AIB-GAA Club camogie after recording a 3-13 to 0-7 win over Mullagh this afternoon. The Wexford side proved much too strong, on a bitterly cold day in GAA HQ, to secure a 15 point win in the senior club finale. Oulart got the perfect start as they scored a goal inside 30 seconds, with Stacey Kehoe pulling on a loose ball and raising a green flag. Mullagh responded with a point but with the Wexford side showing all their experience they led by 1-3 to 0-3 after 20 minutes, Rachel Monaghan's free taking keeping her side in touch. Mullagh trailed against Milford in their semi final and despite being behind by 1-6 to 0-3 at half time they never looked panicked as they got the opening score of the second half. However when Una Leacy kicked home a goal after 42 minutes the Wexford club side surged ahead with every attack and a further goal from Louise Sinnot after 48 minutes left the sides at 3-7 to 0-5. The final 10 minutes saw Oulart empty the bench and they secured their second All-Ireland club title in four years as Stacey Redmond was named Player of the Match. In the opening action in Croke Park Piltown got the better of Lismore in the intermediate final by 1-10 to 1-9 in a thrilling clash played in almost sub-zero temperatures. The sides changed jersey's before the beginning, as Lismore played in their white strip and Piltown played in the Kilkenny county colours. The Leinster champions led from the off and despite a late goal from Nicola Morrissey being disallowed for square ball, the Noresiders held on for a famous win over their Waterford neighbours and the 2014 champions. Aoife Hannon did have a late free that she may have tried to work for a goal chance but she took a point instead and from the resulting puck out the referee blew the full time whistle. The opening half was an entertaining affair as the Kilkenny side settled more quickly and led by 1-3 to 0-1 after 12 minutes when Chole Blackmore finished to the net of the 2014 champions. However that awoke Lismore from their slumber and with Aoife Hannon deadly as ever from placed balls her goal after 28 minutes left just two points between the sides at the break. Piltown got the opening score of the second half to restore their three point advantage and they managed to keep Lismore at bay in a frantic final 10 minutes to secure the All Ireland title as Kellyann Doyle was named Player of the match.
