Bubbles O’Dwyer was one of the stars of the game for the Premier County, scoring a sensational goal and five points against the Cats, but the Killenaule made the headlines for something that happened after the final whistle.
While being interviewed live on the pitch by RTÉ, Bubbles was clearly overcome with the excitement of the occasion as he screamed "
We're champions of fuckin' Ireland," into the camera. Although many people wrote it off as a once-off error in the heat of the moment, the player received some backlash from fans for swearing to our national broadcaster.
Bubbles has since issued a light-hearted apology to everyone over his "slip of the tongue," referencing Michael Conlan as an example of another athlete who dropped the f-bomb on TV.
