There was a class half-volley goal in Limerick’s semi-final against Galway

This was about as good as it got for Limerick today.

Sunday's Allianz Hurling League semi-final between Limerick and Galway at the Gaelic Grounds was a very one-sided affair. Galway ran out 1-21 - 1-11 winners and bar a brief flurry from Limerick in the second half, the Tribemen never looked troubled. It was the expected result but many commentators were surprised at the meek Limerick challenge. After a disappointing league campaign which leaves Limerick in Division 1B for yet another year, this adds further salt to the wound. There is now serious concern ahead of their Munster Championship opener against Clare on June 4. For Galway, it's difficult to know where they are at when you consider the poor challenge that was put up to them today, but at least they have a league final against Tipperary or Wexford to look forward to. One of the highlights of the one-sided encounter in Limerick was a goal scored from the home side in the first half. Will O'Donohue hit the back of the net after 26 minutes which brought Limerick to within one point of their rivals but that was as close as they got. O'Donohue miss-controlled the ball initially before deciding to throw his boot at the bouncing sliotar and rifle it into the top corner of the net. One of the few highlights for Limerick this afternoon.
