After Dickson won a free kick for his tackle on McKenna, the two began wrestling on the ground. It is understood that Western Bulldog forward Dickson complained about the incident when he came up from the floor. Immediately after taking his kick, Dickson ran to the bench to alert the officials. It is understood that McKenna wasn't wearing a mouthguard.
Former Tyrone minor McKenna has been charged with serious misconduct with match review officer Michael Christian referring the matter to the tribunal. If found guilty, he is staring down the barrel of a potential three-game ban.
The last AFL player to get suspended for a biting offence was Chris Masten. In 2015, the West Coast man was handed a two-match suspension for biting Fremantle's Nick Suban. That was the first case of biting in the AFL since 1991 when Eagles forward Chris Lewis received a three-game ban for a biting offence.
