The GAA confirmed the inevitable on Wednesday, announcing that all of this weekend's Allianz League football and hurling matches had been called off due to the inclement weather conditions.
It was difficult to argue with the decision, especially considering how the GAA were criticised recently for waiting far too long to call off matches due to waterlogged pitches.
In this weather, no match was safe, not even Dublin v Kerry at Croke Park. The match was originally scheduled for a 7pm throw-in on Saturday night but is now expected to be played on Sunday, March 11th.
While it hasn't been officially confirmed – the GAA will announce the exact time and date for all rescheduled fixtures this coming Monday (5th) – it seems like a smart move considering the fact that Ireland are due to host Scotland in a crucial Six Nations game on Saturday, March 10th.

With the Ireland Scotland game getting underway at 2.15pm, it makes sense to avoid having the Dublin Kerry match throwing in just a few hours after the rugby has finished.
In addition, the Garda are expected to have their hands full with a 'Rally for Life' event due to take place in the city centre.
A Sunday match will come as a relief for Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice, who is due to take charge of the Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne team's game against Tralee CBS in the rearranged Corn Uí Mhuirí final at Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney next Saturday at 1pm.
