Paul Galvin to take over at Wexford

Oh, the times they are a-changin'.

You can say one thing about the Wexford county board, they're not standing idly by. Paul Galvin is set to take over the Wexford senior football team, pending ratification in September. The Kerry legend was nominated by the manager selection committee and Wexford confirmed that his contract will run for two years, once the formalities are in place.

"Details of Paul's backroom team will be confirmed at a press conference, subject to his successful ratification," the statement reads.

Galvin succeeds Paul McLoughlin who did not enjoy much success in charge of the Model county. Wexford were relegated from Division 3 last year under McLoughlin and then finished fifth in Division 4 in 2019, losing to Waterford and London along the way. They were then dumped out of the Leinster championship at the preliminary stage at the hands of Louth before defeat to Derry spelled the end. The appointment of Galvin will breathe new life into the football family in Wexford. Despite his lack of inter-county management experience, the four-time All-Ireland winner is a football obsessive, he's a hard worker and he knew what it took to get to the top as an individual and as part of one of the finest footballing teams the game as seen. He's been managing The Underdogs team recently as part of TG4's hit show and this marks the start of his career in the inter-county game.
