67th minute outside of the boot pinger completes amazing comeback in Roscommon

Six points down at half time. All square seven minutes into injury time. Clann na nGael still weren't done.

The Roscommon championship is shaping up for a rip-roaring Autumn and Matt Scally is intent on keeping the Johnstown boys sitting pretty on their perch. With one game remaining in the round robin section of the football championship, it's all to play for but the top of the table remains in tact thanks to last-gasp heroics on Saturday. Western Gaels and Clann na nGael were slogging it out in Nash Park with the Frenchpark outfit clinging on to a point that would keep them right in the reckoning to advance from Group A. Despite surrendering a comfortable lead at the break, a draw would still have its uses for Western Gaels but Matt Scally had other things on his mind. With 67 minutes on the clock, with the scores tied at 2-8 to 0-14, with Scally seemingly away from danger far out on the right hand sideline, only the spectacular to pinch this game away from the two-goal Western Gaels and it was only the spectacular Scally had lined up. One top of the laces right-footed effort, one pinging, curling shot from downtown and one set of goalposts cleared with a good 20 metres to spare, Matt Scally won the game with just seconds remaining and made it three victories for Clann na nGael. The table-toppers have already beaten St. Brigids in the championship back in April and now they're looking like they're rolling to the knockout stages in formidable form. With one game to come this week, the Roscommon championship is the place to be:

• Boyle v Clann na nGael
• Roscommon Gaels v St. Brigid's
• Strokestown v Western Gaels

With all that drama to come, it'll still take some beating what Matt Scally whipped up on Saturday though.
