Western Gaels and Clann na nGael were slogging it out in Nash Park with the Frenchpark outfit clinging on to a point that would keep them right in the reckoning to advance from Group A. Despite surrendering a comfortable lead at the break, a draw would still have its uses for Western Gaels but Matt Scally had other things on his mind.
With 67 minutes on the clock, with the scores tied at 2-8 to 0-14, with Scally seemingly away from danger far out on the right hand sideline, only the spectacular to pinch this game away from the two-goal Western Gaels and it was only the spectacular Scally had lined up.
One top of the laces right-footed effort, one pinging, curling shot from downtown and one set of goalposts cleared with a good 20 metres to spare, Matt Scally won the game with just seconds remaining and made it three victories for Clann na nGael.
The table-toppers have already beaten St. Brigids in the championship back in April and now they're looking like they're rolling to the knockout stages in formidable form.
