Kilternan started the brighter of the two, and indeed the only goal of the game was the first score of the match as Emily Coughlan managed to squeeze the ball home after some dogged work coming in from the right hand side. St. Anne's were not deterred though, getting right back on the horse to rectify their mistakes.
Despite trailing on the scoreboard, team captain Carmel Fitzpatrick showed St. Anne's the way dominating the early proceedings at midfield and driving forward at every opportunity.
Mia Khal Brett was a constant thorn in St. Anne's side, and her midfield battle with Fitzpatrick was fast becoming the most intriguing battle of the day.
A lovely score from Jennifer O'Dwyer kept St. Anne's in game who found themselves down by four at half time.
A masterstroke move happened in the second half, Lauren Boothman was moved from the full back line to the midfield area and it paid dividends for St. Anne's as they began to take a hold of the game. Boothman never stopped, she hassled and harried Kilternan every step of the way.
Goalscorer, Coughlan proved the difference between the sides as she scored two second half points to bring her tally to 1-2 for the day, the same score tally that separated the sides.
However, the man of the match was none other than St. Anne's corner forward Róisin Murray. Probably the smallest player on the pitch, she was a constant ball of energy, chasing down every play, as well as creating chances for her team, she displayed great heart and determination. It was a shame Murray ended the game on the wrong side of the result.
Kilternan deserved their win though. It was a fantastic game, both sets of girls and coaches should be extremely proud.
