Jon Rahm sunk a spectacular hole-in-one at the 16th hole at Augusta National this afternoon. It was one heck of a way to warm-up for The Masters, which starts on Thursday.
The seemingly physic-defying shot skimmed across the water before hopping up onto the green and rolling around and down and into the hole. It was quite frankly ridiculous.
Watching it, you go through four very different phases in quick succession.
First off, you think he's fucked it. Straight in the water, not what you expect from the world number 2. Then you think, ah, alright, he's skimmed it off the water, that's either very lucky or incredibly skilled.
Then as it rolls onto the grass you think, yeah, fair play that is a brilliant shot, he's set himself up for a lovely birdie there. That's why he's so highly ranked.
But then it keeps rolling, and you start to think... No, he hasn't. It won't. It couldn't. But it does.
