If there's one thing that brings everyone in Ireland together it's when someone in the UK media tries to claim one of our sports stars is British.
It's like Italia '90, St Patrick's Day and the day before St Patrick's Day in the way the population comes together, united in a single cause.
It happened with Katie Taylor. It happened with Conor McGregor. And just yesterday it happened with the latest star of Irish sport, Paul Dunne.
Well Mark James attempted to clear up the confusion during today's final round at The Open but ended up digging himself a little further into the mire.
"I called him British yesterday and someone in Ireland took exception but we like to be inclusive on the BBC," James said.
At that point, his co-commentator Andrew Cotter, pointed out that he may well be making things worse.
In fairness to James, commentating on golf is a long, drawn-out slog and anyone can make a simple mistake.
And really, if we're honest, who cares?
But his explanation is still pretty funny.
