Aisling Daly has announced her immediate retirement from MMA following the discovery of an abnormality during a brain scan in 2016.
Daly (16-6) was the first Irishwoman to compete in the UFC and became a role model for so many young competitors during her storied career as a fighter.

'Ais the Bash' went 2-1 in the Octagon following a successful stint on the European circuit and an appearance on The Ultimate Fighter 20, the first season of the reality to show to feature female fighters exclusively .
The 29-year-old was scheduled to face Michelle Waterson last September in Hamburg but was forced out of the contest, presumably following the results of the aforementioned scan.
Daly will go down as one of the most important figures in Irish MMA history and her unforgettable entrance ahead her last bout, a unanimous decision victory over Ericka Almeida in her native Dublin, will live long in the memories of fight fans.
