Conor McGregor calls Tony Ferguson a ‘sad bastard’ in gloriously blunt put-down

Conor McGregor's certainly been active on Twitter over the last few days. After commenting on Ariel Helwani's workout and wishing Sage Northcutt a happy birthday, the Notorious has got right back down to business. Following Frankie Edgar's first-round TKO defeat to Brian Ortega at UFC 222, McGregor paid tribute to Edgar by saying his career meant he deserved to fight the Irishman in a not-so-subtle reference to McGregor's claims that he offered to fight at the event. Max Holloway also paid tribute to Edgar, only for McGregor to retort, as you can see below. McGregor was referring to Holloway's withdrawal from UFC 222. The Dubliner wasn't done there, though, almost immediately moving onto interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. UFC president Dana White has already confirmed that McGregor will be stripped of his lightweight belt when Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov fight at UFC 223 in April. It remains to be seen who McGregor will end up fighting on his return but, judging by his increasingly aggressive behaviour on social media, it sounds like he's chomping at the bit to get back and silence his critics.
