Conor McGregor has drafted in a sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao to help him prepare for Floyd Mayweather.
The teams for Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are starting to take shape. SBG striking coach Owen Roddy already revealed who would be in McGregor's corner for the diamond-encrusted panty night, but now we know one of the boxers that will help the Irishman with his camp.
Former UFC fighter Dashon Johnson, who helped prepare Manny Pacquaio for his 'Fight of the Century' against Mayweather back in 2015, revealed on Facebook that Team McGregor has called upon him. Johnson won nine of his 11 MMA contests between 2012 and 2014, but lost his only two fights in the UFC. The 29-year-old is 22-21-3 as a professional boxer.
Roddy also admitted on that
interview on the MMA Hour that more sparring partners will be revealed once they move Stateside for the final leg of the preparations.
Meanwhile, the Money Team has apparently tried t bring in at least one UFC fighter to help Mayweather prepare for 'the Notorious.'
UFC Oklahoma headliner Kevin Lee has doubled down on
his claim that the undefeated pugilist tried to bring him for his camp to
Fox Sports. However, the top lightweight would only be willing to accept the offer if the money was right.
“They wanted to me spar a couple of weeks ago, but I had to get ready for this fight. I have to put myself first. He was going to pay me a little bit of money but not enough. I’m going to let them shine, I ain’t going to hate on their shine, they are going to go out there and make their money and I’m going to make my own money.
"After the fight, I’m going to go back, I’m going to help him out. If he pays me a couple bucks, I’ll get out there and help him. I’ll see what they need.”
This makes us believe both camps are aiming for the win, not just the payday. Roll on August 26.
