Not for the first time in his career, Conor McGregor is set to return from retirement.
Having opted out back in June, claiming he was 'bored of the game,' the Dubliner is returning to the Octagon on January 23 for a bout with American Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
The pair previously fought at UFC 178 in September 2014, with McGregor knocking Poirier out in the first round. The venue for the fight is to be confirmed and it is to take place as the headline clash of a pay-per-view event.
McGregor is almost a full year out of the octagon, with his last fight having taken place in January when he defeated Donald Cerrone with a first-round knock-out.

Poirier and McGregor are the number two and four ranked fighters in the lightweight division and the winner of this clash would take up pole position for a Championship fight later on in the year. With Khabib having retired after his win over Justin Gaethje in October, the division is up in the air with a belt up for grabs.
This fight had been mooted for quite some time with Poirier signing off earlier this month and McGregor always likely to be lured back in. The 32-year-old signed off on the fight today, which means he will return in just over two months time.
