What initially appeared to be no more than another Conor McGregor sound bite may actually have been a precursor to a legal battle as the Irishman has officially filed a petition for judicial review in Nevada.
After being fined $150,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his role in an exchange of water bottles at a pre-UFC 202 press conference in August, McGregor was adamant that he would not be parting ways with the money without a fight.
And it looks like he's sticking to his word as

petition filing for the fine to be reviewed.

McGregor decided to challenge the commission due to the unprecedentedly excessive nature of his punishment, which also required him to complete 50 hours of community service and star in an anti-bullying public service announcement.
Fans and members of the MMA media were united in condemnation of what appeared to be no more than a money-grab from the increasingly unpopular commission and then-commissioner Pat Lundvall, who has since left her post.
It has been suggested that her role in pushing for more extreme punitive measures for McGregor set the wheels in motion for her departure.

And in the wake of the fine, UFC president Dana White claimed that McGregor had announced he would never fight in Nevada again.
"Conor McGregor hit me up yesterday and said 'I don't ever want to fight in Nevada again!'" White said on
The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
"Now how does that make sense for the state of Nevada, that you're going to fine this kid and Nate that much money? It just makes people not want to come fight in our state. And that's not a good thing.
"Guess what? Conor McGregor doesn't need Nevada... He could fight in Iowa. We could put his fight on an island off the coast off anywhere. It just makes no sense."
McGregor's most recent fight took place in New York and, given White's updated timeline for the Dubliner's hiatus,
California is looking like the most likely location to host 'The Notorious' when he makes his comeback.
