McGregor finally received a re-hearing with the commission over his infamous UFC 202 press conference bottle-throwing incident with Nate Diaz, and the outcome was pretty good.
Initially, he was slapped with a $75,000 fine and 50 hours of community service for launching cans of energy drink at the Stockton native, but the NAC reduced this to $25,000 fine and 25 hours of community service during a meeting on Wednesday.
To be brutally honest, the punishment being reduced wasn't what everyone was tuning into see. We all know McGregor wants to fight Floyd Mayweather to afford that solid gold house and rocket car and live the life of Chester J Lampwick of the Simpsons fame, but he needs a boxing licence if he wants to enter the ring. He's already secured a licence to box in California, but considering that 'Money' hasn't fought outside Nevada since 2005, receiving a licence from the NAC would be pretty crucial in booking that crossover megafight. In order to apply for that piece of paper worth (roughly) a gazillion times its weight in gold, McGregor needed to comply with the punishment. Now that punishment is cheaper and less time-consuming. https://twitter.com/HeidiFang/status/844590914253180928 Vegas' Mama didn't raise no fool. They know how lucrative that fight would be to them, and they'd be more than happy to devour a slice of that diamond-encrusted pie. https://twitter.com/HeidiFang/status/844591582833627136 https://twitter.com/HeidiFang/status/844591972098621441Explore more on these topics:
