In many ways, Donald Cerrone makes perfect sense as Conor McGregor's next opponent.
Cerrone is a big name, has a hardcore fanbase of his own and would likely be willing to stand with McGregor if a deal is agreed to share the Octagon with 'The Notorious'.
On Saturday night, McGregor seemingly granted Cerrone's wish of a red panty night by accepting the American's challenge after 'Cowboy' knocked out rising young prospect Alex Hernandez at UFC Brooklyn.
"For a fight like that Donald, I’ll fight you. Congratulations," McGregor tweeted just moments after seeing Cerrone's hand raised.

Cerrone has been campaigning for a clash with the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion for months now and while there is still plenty of work to be done to turn the fight into a reality, UFC president Dana White is open to the idea.
"Yeah, I mean anything is possible," White said at Saturday's post-fight press conference. "If those guys want that and the fans want to see it, that’s what I do."
White may be happy to see McGregor vs. 'Cowboy' come to fruition but the same can't be said for some of the best 155lbers in the world as the likes of Al Iaquinta, Kevin Lee and Dustin Poirier made their feelings abundantly clear.
