FBI investigating possible gun threat against Conor McGregor following UFC 196 press conference

Well, that escalated quickly.

The UFC and the FBI are currently looking into a potential threat made against Conor McGregor on Twitter following comments he made at the UFC 196 pre-fight press conference. McGregor spat venom at his opponent Nate Diaz at the event, hinting that his street-wise persona is undermined by other activities he partakes in.

"I honestly like Nick’s little brother. How can you not like him? He’s like a little cholo from the hood. But at the same time, he coaches kid’s jiu jitsu on a Sunday morning and goes on bike rides with the elderly. He makes gang signs with the right hand and balloon animals with the left hand.”

One fan took issue with McGregor’s comments about Diaz's hometown of Stockton and decided to send a tweet to McGregor that could be construed as a threat against the featherweight champion. The tweeter boasted about his neighbourhood having guns and crazy people with a photo attached of a person, presumably himself, brandishing what appears to be an AK-47 assault rifle. The UFC were made aware of the tweet and Fansided report that the swiftly alerted their security team of the potential threat against McGregor. The report explains that the user’s account has since been removed from Twitter and that the FBI is also investigating the matter.
