The second strap arrived later that year with his famous 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo in a unification bout.
McGregor got his hands on belt number three when he moved up to lightweight and knocked out champion Eddie Alvarez last November.
But where did that fourth belt come from?
The below lot think they've figured it out.
Cast your mind back to UFC 205, when McGregor became the first fighter in UFC history to hold world titles in two different weight divisions at the same time.

The concurrent featherweight and lightweight champion at the time wanted to celebrate his feat by hoisting both belts into the New York City air but was disappointed to learn that there was no plan in place to allow him hold both belts at the same time.
The UFC panicked at the sight of their most reliable cash-cow voicing his dissatisfaction and an underling was sent backstage to collect a second belt, which just so happened to belong to UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
"For the record, I'm not supposed to bring his belt. He's supposed to bring his belt," UFC president Dana White said in the post-fight press conference.

"He's yelling at me because I don't have his belt and I'm like 'No you're supposed to bring your belt and I give you the new belt'.
"So we went back there and Tyron Woodley gave us his belt
"He got it back! He let us borrow his belt."
Did Woodley really get it back? McGregor's followers aren't so sure.
