“I’m nice, now I’m mean, I started nice, now I’m back to mean” – Dominick Cruz slams McGregor’s changing personas

American UFC star Dominick Cruz believes that Conor McGregor is having something of an identity crisis at the moment. McGregor broke his leg during the first round of his rematch against Dustin Poirier, resulting in the fight being stopped, but the irishman was widely regarded to have been losing up until that point. When the two fought back in January, there was a mutual respect between the two, McGregor was very humble and gentleman-like during the build up, but ultimately lost the fight. This time around he has been brash, confrontational, and even crossed the line a few times by mentioning Poirier's wife. It's as though he made a conscious decision before hand that being nice doesn't get him the results he needs. However, even with his new brash approach, ultimately the result was the same and it's another loss on the Dubliner's record. "When I look at the fight, it's obvious, he lost that fight. "You can't go into these fights healthy, leave with a broken leg and say that 'I broke my own leg.' "That happened because you were fighting the man, trying to punch him and you fell back on your leg.

"I think what really makes it tough for Conor to come back is the things that have been said, the personas that have been hopped around. "I'm nice, now I'm mean, I started nice, now I'm back to mean - you're trying to figure out your own brain. If you really want to know what I think is the issue, I think it's what persona does he go to now? "Do you go back to being mean, do you go back to being nice, how do you get through this?"

Going by his post match interview with Joe Rogan, I think it's fair to say he is going to be keeping the "mean" approach for the foreseeable future.
