Max Holloway is campaigning for an interim title fight with Jose Aldo in Hawaii

Conor McGregor's decision to move up to lightweight has somewhat pressed the pause button on the featherweight division.

With no chance of a title fight until the summer at the very earliest, the top five 145 lbers are in the dark about what's next for them. Does Jose Aldo get an immediate rematch? Does Frankie Edgar finally get his shot at 'The Notorious'? How many more wins does Max Holloway need to string together before getting his reward? In fact, Holloway believes that he may have the solution which will keep the wheels in motion at featherweight by proposing an interim title fight with former champion Aldo. "He (Aldo) said he'd fight for a title and whatever," Holloway told MMAFighting. "We'll see how this Conor McGregor stuff goes, see how long more he wants to fight after his next fight.

"Why not do an interim (title fight) with Aldo and Holloway, in Hawaii. That would be freaking ideal!

"We'll see. I have no comment on that. I'm not the UFC. All I know is that they send me contracts and they send me cheques. I hope they sign it and I hope I get two cheques at the end of the night." Poor ol' Frankie can't be overlooked again, can he?
