For the second time in his career, Norman Parke is ineligible for a title fight after missing weight.
Norman Parke was scheduled to take on Mateusz Gamrot in a KSW lightweight title-fight rematch in Dublin's 3Arena on Sunday. The fight will still go ahead as planned, but Parke will be ineligible for the belt after missing weight.
The Northern Irish fighter came in 0.8 kg over the limit at the early weigh-ins on Saturday and was given the opportunity to tip the scales again at the ceremonial weigh-ins at 3 pm. He opted against taking up the offer after his kidneys began to hurt from dehydration.

Aside from missing the chance to win the belt, Parke has also been fined 30% of his purse for coming in over championship weight. He explained his reasoning for choosing not to attempt hitting the weight limit a second time in a statement on social media. He apologised to the fans, the promotion and his opponent for what he described as 'very unprofessional'.
Parke also missed weight for his BAMMA title fight against Paul Redmond in Belfast in February. He ended up winning the closely-contested fight by unanimous decision but did not receive the BAMMA belt for the victory.
At the ceremonial weigh-ins for KSW 40 on Saturday, Parke took back his apology to Gamrot.
"The last pound was very, very tough. I hold my hands up. Sorry to the pr0motion. I'm not sorry to this piece of shit (points to Gamrot). Fuck him! They're saying I'm disrespectful? This guy's been talking shit too. Come and fight like a man."
