It's back to the drawing board for Paul Redmond and Chris Fields after KSW 44.
Prior to KSW 44, there was talk of title shots for Paul Redmond and Chris Fields. However, the Irish fighters took big steps backwards in their title campaigns in the Echo Arena, Gdansk on Saturday night.
SBG light heavyweight Chris Fields
was told that a win over Wagner Prado in Gdansk would earn him a crack at Tomasz Narkum, the promotion's 205 lb king. 'The Housewives' Choice' entered into the bout riding consecutive wins for the first time since 2012. He followed up his brabo choke finish of Dan Konecke in BAMMA with a dominant decision victory over Michal Fijalka at KSW Dublin.
However, it was two-fight UFC veteran Prado that got his hand raised. The Brazilian scored his 13th knockout victory with some vicious ground and pound in the second round. The referee awarded him the TO at the 2:17 mark.

It didn't take long for Fields to break his silence after the fight. He thanked his team and his supporters on Twitter shortly after the event.

There wasn't any joy for Team Ryano lightweight Paul Redmond in his bout against Gracjan Szadziński. 'Redser' came into the bout off the back of a three-fight win streak. After dropping a majority decision to Norman Parke in BAMMA, the Dubliner submitted Rob Sinclair before scoring decision wins against Lukasz Chlewicki and Sergio de Jesus Santos in his respective KSW and Bellator debuts.
A win over Szadziński may very well have earned him a 155 lb title shot against Mateusz Gamrot. Unfortunately, it was the Polish fighter who came out on top to earn his third-straight victory.
Szadzinksi made Redmond take a seat with a big red hand following a clinch in the centre of the cage in the second round. He followed the Irishman down to the ground and landed a couple of hammer fists before the referee intervened. The fight was called off at 1:36 of the first round.

Redmond confirmed on Twitter that he broke his nose in three places during the fight.
