"McGregor isn’t going to beat Floyd in no god-damn boxing match. Floyd's the pound-for-pound best boxer around, not to mind we're talking about MMA. What MMA guy is going to beat Floyd in a boxing match? Are you serious?"
RJJ, a mixed martial artist in his own right, feels the fact that McGregor is tied into a contract with the UFC, and is not able to pick and choose whom he fights, is the real reason that the encounter will not, and cannot, ever happen.
"Boxers box anybody, because they are in control of their careers. MMA guys will fight anybody, but it has to be another MMA fighter because they are not in charge of their careers, the MMA is, whoever that may be is "They can't make that crossover like a boxer could until they are away from the MMA or whoever it may be. "The UFC would have to allow him to do something crazy like this, and they aren’t going to do that. Because he isn’t going to outbox Floyd. "Are you serious? They won't allow that to happen because that will have an effect on their brand. Now if a guy was retired and past his prime he could do that."
Floyd Mayweather has intimated that he may be interested in the fight, but the 47-year-old ex-champion feels the fact it could only happen when McGregor is past his best as well, or outside of his current UFC contract, means it would not sell as well as it might right now.
RJJ also answers how he would feel about fighting Nate or Nick Diaz in a boxing match as they made the request about two years ago.
Jones Jr. has no problem fighting either man, even on the same night.
"Either one of them, anytime, they could get both of 'em, and say I’ll do six rounds with Nick and then the other one can do six rounds. I don't care who will go first."https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0V3xDisk9A
