BREAKING: Daniel Cormier vs. Alexander Gustafsson will be the next UFC light heavyweight title fight. Date and venue TBD.
— UFC Tonight (@UFCTonight) June 4, 2015
It's a strange choice of challenger for Cormier considering Gustafsson's last fight saw him knocked out against Anthony Johnson. Many suggest that Ryan Bader is deserving of a shot at the strap as he is currently riding a four-fight win streak.
The next middleweight title bout makes a lot more sense but we can also expect a bit of a wait for that to come around . It was announced last night that Chris Weidman will attempt to defend his belt for the fourth time, and the first against a non-Brazilian, against Luke Rockhold.
It was between Rockhold and Ronaldo Jacare Souza for the number one contender spot and the American had obviously been favoured due to the fact that he walked through the tough task of Lyoto Machida while Jacare saw off the lesser opponent in Chris Camozzi.
