TWEETS: Five fighters have revealed that they’re willing to step in to fight Conor McGregor at UFC 189

UFC fighters are falling over each other as they look to secure a huge payday and step in for the injured Jose Aldo at UFC 189.

The UFC featherweight champion suffered a fractured rib and his massively anticipated title defence against Conor McGregor is now in serious jeopardy. While the fight has not officially been cancelled, a number of UFC fighters took to social media to reveal that they're ready, willing and able to step in and fight the Irish 145lb sensation. Frankie Edgar (19-4-1) is the likeliest candidate to step in to take on The Notorious and that bout would be the only situation in which an interim title would be put on the line. He was quick to jump on Twitter to look for the chance to back up that talk as he looks to get back to winning ways when his seven fight win streak came to an end against Ricardo Lamas in November.

Joseph Duffy (13-1) is looking to become "the last man to beat Conor McGregor" for the second time as the Donegal lightweight contacted UFC president Dana White looking for a shot on July 11.

Jeremy Stephens (23-11) is a real outside shot after coming off back-to-back losses but he's still chancing his arm by asking UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby to move him from his original fight against the aforementioned Dennis Bermudez to a more high-profile clash with McGregor.
