After all that, Tyron Woodley is still the UFC welterweight champion.
Tyron Woodley needed less than two rounds to dispatch of Darren Till in UFC 228's main event.
Woodley started off in a hurry, immediately rushing in with a flurry of punches before securing a clinch. He landed a knee up the middle before securing the body lock. Referee Dan Miragliotta wasn't happy with the lack of action against the fence and he was quick to bring the fight back to the centre.
From there, Till was happy to remain patient and gunshy in the centre of the cage. Woodley kept backing up to the fence before exploding with high kicks and punches to the body. The opening frame was fairly uneventful, but Woodley took it with ease.
The fight really sprung to life in the second round. Woodley scored a fast knockdown with a perfectly-placed right hand in the opening moments of the stanza. Woodley immediately pounced, raining down with vicious ground and pound. Blood began seeping out of a cut on the Liverpudlian's forehead.
After taking a lot of damage, Till was able to slow down the onslaught. However, Woodley was relentless. At this point, Till was in survival mode. Unfortunately for the Brit, he wasn't able to survive for much longer. Woodley trapped the head and arm and locked in the D'Arce choke forcing the tap at 4:19 of the second round.

After the referee stepped in, Din Thomas awarded Woodley with his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt inside the Octagon. It marked 'The Chosen One's first submission in the UFC. He actually won his first five professional fights via submission. He improved his record to 19-3-1 (9-2-1 UFC) with the victory. Meanwhile, Till suffered his first ever loss and dropped to 17-1-1 (5-1-1 UFC). Up next for Woodly will be former interim champion Colby Covington.
