The UFC is reportedly looking into a return to Ireland.
It has been two and a half years since the promotion came to these shores but,
according to MMA Fighting, the powers that be are targeting a trip to Dublin in the next three months.
Sunday, May 27 is the favoured date and that may well be an early start for fight fans to capture a decent US audience.
The last even the UFC held in Dublin was 'Fight Night 76'. Joseph Duffy was originally slated to fight Dustin Poirier but the lightweight was forced to withdraw after sustaining a concussion during a sparring session.
Paddy 'The Hooligan' Holahan stepped in as the card headliner but he was defeated by Hawaiian flyweight Louis Smoka.
This would be the UFC's fourth event in Dublin. The first was back in 2009 while the second, five years later, was headlined by Conor McGregor and had a card featuring Norman Parke, Cathal Pendred, Neil Seery, and Holohan, who all won.
McGregor comprehensively beat Diego Brandao on that night, July 2014.
Irish fight fans would dearly love were 'The Notorious' to be involved but it may well be his SBG stable-mate Gunnar Nelson left to fly the Irish flag [and an Icelandic one too].
