VIDEO: Chris Eubank has described Conor McGregor as an ‘animal’ in the best possible sense

Chris Eubank is always an interesting man to see interviewed.

The former champion boxer was in Ireland today to do some media work and he turned up on tonight's Late Late Show, where the topic of conversation veered to two very well known Irishmen. Most recently he was in the jungle for I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here,  but for Irish fans of boxing Eubank will  always be known as the man who Steve Collins beat twice in the mid 1990s to win, and then retain, the WBO super-middleweight championship belt. Eubank told a startled Ryan Tubridy that he could not believe he had been beaten twice by Collins, but felt the reason the Dubliner was able to overcome him was because of his Irish spirit, and not his boxing skill.

"In my view I still don't know how he was able to beat me. The second fight, he never had my pizazz, my ability, my punching power, he never had anything like that. "But he had the Irish spirit, something which is very hard to beat."

Naturally the chat then turned to Conor McGregor, and Ryan Tubridy asked Eubank what he thinks of the Irish UFC champion. McGregor has previously been praised for his boxing skill by Barry McGuigan among others, but Eubank doesn't think any contest between both men would be a fair fight as he paid the Dubliner a supreme compliment in his ability.

"He would beat me of course. I mean, it's Conor McGregor, it's ridiculous, the man is an animal,I'm a gentleman. He just took out the number two contender in the world in thirty seconds. I wouldn't want to mess around with that. A lot of people think I'm a brute, can't you see and hear that I'm not."
