Formula One racing legend Michael Schumacher is said to be in a wheelchair as he continues his recovery from a ski accident in December.
The seven-time world champion is believed to be paralysed and suffering from speech problems as well as memory problems, according to a friend quoted in the
press today after an interview with French radio.
Former French racing driver Phillipe Streiff - who has been in a wheelchair since a crash in Brazil in 1989 - was quoted on the German's condition.
“Schumacher is better, but everything is relative," Streiff said. "He can’t speak. He is paralyzed and is in a wheelchair. He has problems with memory and speech. As soon as he is with his family again, he will be able to recover faster, but it will be difficult.”
Schumacher was released from his rehabilitation facility in Switzerland in September to carry on his recovery at home.
