Toro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz has been airlifted to hospital after crashing into a barrier during practice at the Russian Grand Prix.

The 21 year old has been airlifted to hospital, but initial reports suggested the Spaniard is not seriously injured. He was conscious and gave onlookers the thumbs up while being examined by medical staff and the FIA confirmed he was speaking.
