Trimble made his Test debut under Eddie O'Sullivan and flourished, when fit, under Joe Schmidt (winning Irish Players' Player of the Year in 2014) but his relationship with Kidney blew hot and cold.
The former Ulster winger and Murphy were discussing Mike Haley's tweet (below) about parents attending matches when the Italy sub story cropped up.

“Did your parents ever do anything (laughs) weird at games?," asked Murphy. "I was just picturing my Dad booing. He used to boo a lot!"
TRIMBLE: “No, my mum left a game one time, in a huff, because I was on the bench and we were hammering Italy, 40-0 or something. 75 minutes gone and I was the last man not to get taken off the bench. My mum left the stadium in a huff. She was like, ‘He’s not doing that to my Andrew!’” MURPHY: “She’d be too embarrassed if you came on after 79. Did they bring you on?” TRIMBLE: “’Oh that’s my son. He’s not my son!’” MURPHY: “Is there anything worse than that, when you’re brought on with 20 seconds to go? And you look up into the stands and your parents are there…” TRIMBLE: “No, and they’ve disappeared!” MURPHY: “They’ve gone... You go to give them a wave and you’re like, ‘What?!’”From our recollections of coming on as a sub (and there are a few to call upon), getting a touch of the ball was first and foremost in our minds whenever we got on the pitch.
