Peter O'Mahony's ability in the lineout, sheer physicality around the pitch and merciless work at the breakdown - in attack and defence - is a huge asset to Warren Gatland's side.
He was at his powerful best against the Crusaders two weekends ago and after captaining the Lions last Saturday, according to Stander, he is now set to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Brian O’Driscoll and Paul O’Connell to captain the Lions in a Test game.
"He is a great leader. He’s my captain at Munster and he works hard for the team,’ said Stander. "His heart is on his sleeve and I don’t think there’s an awful lot of leaders like him," said Stander.
"He shows it on the pitch and he shows it in his aggression. He is a great captain and we all know that – he will make us proud.
