"There's a couple of guys. Recently retired was obviously Paul O'Connell, he was the hard, grafting forward and often the captain, as well, of the forward pack. Everyone knows with rugby that it starts up front. He was an amazing player for their team. "And Brian O'Driscoll, he could turn a game in a moment of brilliance and he often did that. He was a key player that you needed to shut down."A text to the show wanted to know only one thing, an issue that has divided the nation over the past decade: Sexton or O'Gara?
"That's a tough one," Carter replied. He continued:
"I didn't play too many times against Sexton. He is a fantastic player and a driving force behind the Irish team over the past couple of years. "But, for me, Ronan O'Gara. To play as many Test matches as he did, it's an amazing record. To kick as many points as he did, as well, is pretty impressive."Carter joked that he has been killing O'Gara, who is now his skills coach, in Racing 92 kicking sessions so 'I better be nice to him today'. That's it settled, so. If anyone ever brings Sexton/O'Gara up in conversation, simply refer back to the greatest outhalf of all time.
