Smith's trip drew the ire of a number of Ireland players and a scuffle soon broke out between both teams. Away from the main scuffle, Dan Sheehan and Schoeman, the Scotland tight-head, were squaring off in a private showdown of their own.
It ended with Schoeman shoving Sheehan over an advertisement hoarding, as Scotland's frustration began to show.
A member of the Irish backroom team pulled Sheehan away from the 'wrestling match,' as it was described on commentary.

Referee Nic Berry went to the TMO to discuss the coming together, and while Ollie Smith was given a card, Schoeman got away without being penalised.
"There's nothing else to look at," said the TMO.
"There's nothing else to look at?" said an exasperated Alan Quinlan on Virgin Media commentary.
"Schoeman has just pushed Dan Sheehan over the hoardings, that's incredibly dangerous," he added.
"What Schoeman did, you can't do that. I've a serious issue with what he did there."
Ireland absolutely blitzed Scotland to set up a Paris showdown with the All Blacks in next weekend's Rugby World Cup quarter finals. Hugo Keenan and Garry Ringrose were the main men for Andy Farrell's side, scoring three tries between them.
