Irish rugby fans have slammed the price of tickets for Ireland’s upcoming Autumn Internationals in Dublin.
Andy Farrell’s Ireland will face Japan, Australia and South Africa at the Aviva Stadium in November, after a clash with New Zealand in Chicago.
A small number of additional tickets were released by the IRFU on Wednesday, but the cheapest tickets for each of the clashes was eye-watering.
For the South Africa match on November 22, the cheapest ticket was €156.60, while for Australia on November 15 the cheapest is €126.60. For the Japan match on November 8, the cheapest ticket still stands at €81.60.
A number of fans voiced their frustration online, with one saying: “€156 just to watch a rugby match? This isn't just unfair; it's extortion. If the Irish rugby public initiate a collective boycott of this series, then the suits in the IRFU will have absolutely deserved it. Disgusting!”
Another said: “Genuine supporters are being priced out. All about the €€€€, IRFU don’t care about supporters anymore.”
A third said: “Jeeeeez…..€126 per ticket ..then you’ve to get there!! So sad for grassroots fans.”
