Paul O’Connell reveals when he hopes to play rugby again

Paul O'Connell will look back on 2015 with mixed feelings.

The former Munster man led Ireland to another Six Nations title in the spring, but his season was cut short in October as his hamstring suffered a devastating tear in the World Cup win over France. The retired Ireland captain underwent surgery to repair the damage, but considering the lay off time was anything from six months up to a year, doubts were cast if the lock would ever play rugby again. Today he was unveiled as a Toulon player finally, and speaking to the media, the ex-Munster man expressed his hope to be back playing back early in 2016,

“I haven't started running yet. Hopefully, I'll be back January or February, I'm not fully sure yet."

The Limerick man has never played for any side other than Munster in his professional career, but he's already liking life in France,

"I feel great. The weather's amazing, it's raining non-stop in Ireland at the moment. I've met the players, stood in for the team photo today.”

"I was in my first meeting today, that was enjoyable, I watched a bit of training. It’s all good.

“It’s very strange for me. I’ve only ever played for Munster, I’ve only ever lived in Limerick. It’s a big change for me, I’m looking forward to it, but I’m also nervous about it. So, I like the jersey and I’m looking forward to wearing it.”

Glad to hear he's on his way back.
