Peter O'Mahony is one of six Irish people who have been recognised on Forbes' annual '30 under 30' European list.
The hard-nosed flanker is the sole sportsperson representing Ireland on the list and joins investigative journalist Sally Hayden, actress Jessie Buckley, developer Conall Laverty and medical entrepreneurs Edel Browne and Ciara Clancy.
O'Mahony, who was an integral part of the Irish team which won the Six Nations, Grand Slam and Triple Crown last year, is in esteemed company in the sports and games category as his achievements have been acknowledged along with the likes of World Cup winners Antoine Griezmann and N'Golo Kante,
O'Mahony's endorsements with adidas, Audi Cork and the Bank of Ireland were also referenced on the Forbes list.
The Munster captain's never-say-die attitude on the pitch has endeared him to fans of his province and country for years and his intensity has even seen him mocked in the past by current compatriot Conor Murray and former teammate Simon Zebo
"O'Mahony, Conor Murray and Simon Zebo would hang out quite a lot together," Andrew Trimble said on a
recent episode of House of Rugby.
"And, I must say, Zebo and Murray give him a hard time. He's intense and he's serious, but he's really funny as well and a good lad. It's just, them boys would [tease] him a wee bit.
"I know for that public persona [of his], he doesn't seem like somebody that would get a hard time but he takes it so well. Them boys just know him so well and they know what way he operates.
"But certainly, on the pitch, he's a leader in so many ways... He demands high standards and he knows the game inside out. And there's always a highlight reel of these two or three massive moments and he's right in the middle of them."
