Adam Johnson has been stripped of his 12 England caps

Disgraced footballer Adam Johnson has been stripped of all of his England caps, it has emerged during his sentencing.

Johnson's defence team revealed that the 28-year-old has had his 12 caps taken away as a result of his offences.

Orlando Pownall QC said that Johnson "has lost a lucrative career. He has been stripped of his England caps. He has become the subject of national humiliation." The news emerged ahead of Johnson's sentencing at Bradford Crown Court after he was found guilty of sexual activity with a child.
