Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson does not have an active Twitter account.
On Wednesday,
the 28-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of grooming.
And @Adam__Johnson had an absolute nightmare as he was mistaken for
the Adam Johnson.
It wasn't the first time that the non-footballing Johnson had been mistaken for the winger and, last March, he very clearly pinned a Tweet to his page that sets things straight.

And when the former Manchester City player pleaded guilty this week, the deluge of tweets directed to @Adam__Johnson got right back underway.

Some didn't believe his claims.

Some sympathised with him.

And others had a bit of advice for the Tweeter.

But, to be fair to him, he didn't seem too bogged down in the case of mistaken identity.

@Adam__Johnson can now call himself a member of the bizarre club of Twitter users who have been mistaken for footballers.
