Moments after one of the toughest defeats to swallow of his Manchester United tenure, Louis van Gaal asked a question that pervaded the precarious position he and his club find themselves in. "Is it important what Rio Ferdinand is saying, is that important to you?" van Gaal replied to a question at the post-match press conference.
