Euro 88 and World Cup 98 stars join up with Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers have made a couple of good coaching acquisitions.

Bit O'Red, today, announced that former Ireland international Liam O'Brien and Joseph Ndo, who appeared at two World Cups for Cameroon, have joined their coaching staff. O'Brien appeared 16 times for Ireland, was part of the Euro '88 squad, and had club spells at Manchester United, Shamrock Rovers, Newcastle United. Ndo was capped 21 times by Cameroon and was in World Cup squads in 1998 and 2002. Sligo boss Owen Heary played under O'Brien's direction when he was assistant to then-coach Pat Fenlon and was a teammate of Ndo at Shelbourne. Earlier this year, Ndo joined Arrow Harps FC, an amateur side in Sligo. Heary said, 'Liam brings a lot of experience here. He has played at the highest level for clubs like Manchester United and Newcastle United and been an international with Ireland. He has also coached at a high level with Hibernians and brings plenty of experience to our staff. 'Joseph will bring some new ideas to the coaching side. He has only recently finished playing and will be able to bring that experience into coaching. I think that they can both bring a lot to the club and help improve results.” Heary added, 'I won the league while I played under Liam at Bohs so I know him well and how he works. He will add a lot in preparing players for games. I played with and against Joey many times so I know how well how good he is and that is why I am bringing him in.'
