Now that Jon Walters will be resting his dogs, Irish fans are pinning their hopes on two men - Shane Long and Wes Hoolahan.
On Friday, the Belgians were talking up Long as if he was a lab-created concoction of Michael Owen, Marco van Basten and Gerd Muller, with a little greyhound blood dashed in for good measure.
However, the key to unlocking the Belgians could we be Hoolahan.
Some call the former Shelbourne man Wessi but others refer to him as The Wessiah. Whatever you you spin in, he is all of our hopes and dreams fit snugly into a 5-foot-6 frame.
