Moxey claims that Bruce reached the end of his tether in discussions with Hull's vice-chairman Ehab Allem due to the club's refusal to sign a trio of players pinpointed by the manager.
Bruce apparently wanted to bring in midfielder Nick Powell, who ended up leaving Manchester United for Wigan this summer, as well as Senegal internationals Ludovic and Salif Sane.
At a short meeting with Allem, with whom he never enjoyed the greatest of relationships, Bruce let his frustration be known and decided to walk away from the position he had held for four years.
A promotion specialist, Bruce is thought to be on the radar of Wolves who, under new ownership, want an experienced manager to bring the club back to the Premier League.
