Steven Gerrard could potentially end up playing AGAINST Liverpool if MLS plans come to pass

Yeah, we can't either. Yesterday we brought you the news that Gerrard would almost certainly not be able to return to Liverpool on loan in the MLS off season. And the former Reds captain could potentially end up lining out against his beloved club as MLS commissioner Don Garber revealed his plans to establish an Anglo-American Cup which will see the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners taking part in a tournament against the American equivalents. "We have been talking to the Premier League about doing some sort of official competition as opposed to just having clubs come over to the country on a random basis playing in a tournament that takes place every summer,'' Garber said. "I would love to find a way that we could play our cup champion and our league champion against an FA Cup and league champion in a tournament and play it in New York City every year." While the notion of Liverpool winning a Premier League or FA Cup seems a pretty distant thought right now and with few miles left on Gerrard's clock, this doesn't look the likeliest of outcomes but it's a definite possibility. All it takes is Liverpool to win the FA Cup and LA Galaxy to win the MLS Cup and boom, we've got an unmissable match next year.
