Hoolahan kept City ticking over all evening and was only denied a second, for his side, when Richard O'Donnell excellently tipped his late off onto the post.
Post-match, City boss Alex Neil positively gushed about the 34-year-old's performance. He told the BBC:
"From a technical and vision point of view I think Wes is as good as you'll get in the Championship. He is a key player for us in and around the box and also works hard on the defensive side of his game too.
