Top of the pile, though, is Manchester United's Rooney.
According to The Daily Mail list, the striker, who netted his 50th England goal on Tuesday, is on a staggering £260k (€355k) a week. Totted up, that is £13m (€17.8m) a year.
However, it was widely reported, in February 2014, that Rooney had penned a new, weekly pay deal worth £300k (€410k).
Not on the list is Bastian Schweinsteiger. This would appear to be an anomaly as Sky Sports and several other media outlets report that the German is on £275k a week at United.
The nearest to Rooney, per the list, would appear to be Juan Mata (£140k) but Schweinsteiger's salary trumps that.
