Donegal, Kerry and Neil McGee handed CCCC punishments after fiery league clash

The Central Competitions Controls Committee has acted on the unsavoury scenes that blotted Sunday's Allianz League tie between Kerry and Donegal.

Kerry quite literally battled their way to a 1-13 to 1-8 win in Tralee but it was not without incident as the sides lost a man each to a sending off in a ill-tempered first half that also saw two blacks and three yellows flashed to players. The Kerry and Donegal county boards have been fined €7,500 each for the violent affair which saw more than one clash over the 70 minutes. Donegal full back Neil McGee has also been singled out for punishment and has been hit with a one match ban by the CCCC which will see him miss this weekend’s home tie with Roscommon, pending a possible appeal from the player.

McGee appeared to attempt to injure the fingers of Alan Fitzgerald who then lashed out and was handed his marching orders. But McGee's role in the sending off has been penalised retrospectively and failing an appeal, he won't be in action this weekend.
