Encouraging news for fans who didn’t get tickets for Saturday’s All-Ireland quarter finals

Thousands of GAA fans are set to miss out on the fun this weekend but... there is hope.

Dublin versus Monaghan in an All-Ireland football quarter final - on Saturday afternoon - could well have sold out Croke Park on its own. Fans of both counties will be joined by supporters from Tyrone and Armagh at GAA headquarters for the double header and that means a severe ticket shortage. Dublin GAA chairman Sean Shanley told RTE that "genuine people will get tickets" for the last eight clash with Monaghan but many unlucky punters would contend that claim. GAA spokesperson Alan Milton has offered fans currently without a ticket a glimmer of hope. He told 2FM's Game On that the GAA was hoping to put tickets for Saturday's games on general sale today [Wednesday]. Milton has advised fans to keep an eye on the official GAA website for ticket details will adding that there will 'be an allocation expected to go to SuperValu and Centra stores as well'.

"There’ll be a finite amount," he said. "We don’t know what we’re getting back from the counties yet, but we know we’ll have something, so keep an eye out [on Wednesday] is the message."
